Some couples come looking for a beautiful wedding. Others arrive carrying an entire world with them: people, places, family memories and stories that refuse to fit into conventional décor.
Nicole walked into Rogdaki Events already in love with our work. She came with Christos and a small group of close friends, slightly worried we might not like their idea.
They were wrong. We loved it from the first moment.
“I want a wedding that does not look like a wedding,” she told us.
That sentence became the beginning of everything.
The Historic Mourtas Taverna by the Sea
The celebration took place at the historic Mourtas Taverna in Vrachneika, right beside the sea. We chose not to transform the space into something foreign. Instead, we let its authentic character and its relationship with the water become the foundation of the day.
Guests were not seated at numbered tables. Each setting was inspired by a person, a journey or a meaningful chapter from the couple’s life. They were invited to sit inside the memories of Christos and Nicole.
Tables That Told Stories
The “Aristotle” table was dedicated to Christos’ father, whom he lost at a very young age. A quiet, tender presence that filled the space with meaning.
The “Constantinople” table glowed with rich colours and historic objects from Anna Maria Rogdaki’s private collection, evoking nostalgia and mystery.
The “Grandmother Litsa” table was dressed with objects taken from Nicole’s grandmother’s home. Everyday heirlooms that suddenly felt sacred.
The “Karystos” table drew from the couple’s shared journeys and the deep blue of the Aegean, like a personal postcard opened for everyone they loved.
At the centre stood the newlyweds’ table, dedicated to “Don Louis,” Nicole’s grandfather, whose story was deeply connected to the venue itself. A symbolic place was left open for him.
The Ceremony at Saint Gerasimos
The church was decorated in an unconventional way: decorative parasols, bamboo chairs and abundant flowers mixed with fruit and vegetables, carrots, peppers, lemons and grapefruit. The result felt bright, alive and slightly unexpected.
Against this explosion of colour, Nicole carried a delicate lily-of-the-valley bouquet. Her gown came from the historic house of Daisy Antonopoulou, carrying with it a quiet thread of Greek cinematic elegance.
A Warm Greek Welcome
Guests were welcomed with bright colours and traditional Greek sweets. The dinner that followed tasted of the sea. Tambourine wedding favours added a playful, festival-like spirit that perfectly matched the mood of the evening.
Dancing Until Morning
As night fell, lights glowed above the tables, bubbles floated through the air and fireworks lit the sky. The music kept everyone dancing until morning.
One of the most emotional moments came when Nicole danced with Anna Maria Rogdaki. A quiet, personal expression of gratitude that turned a professional collaboration into something lasting.
A Wedding That Did Not Look Like a Wedding
This was never about trends. It was built around people who were no longer physically present, around grandparents, a father, a sister, beloved journeys and treasured family objects. Around the blue of the sea and the bold colours of summer.
It became exactly what Nicole had asked for:
A wedding that did not look like a wedding, but told the story of a lifetime.
